Rabbi Gershon Gewirtz

Rabbi Dr. Gershon C. Gewirtz

Rabbi Gershon C. Gewirtz, Ed.D., has served the YIB community as Mara d’Asra for more than 29 years. His vision of the YIB as a Caring, Learning, and Social Community has helped transcend and leverage the diverse perspectives that contribute to the vibrancy of YIB. His 25 year engagement with CJP, JCRC and the Vaad HaRabanim has positively impacted our day schools, strengthened kashrus and contributed to the collaboration, cohesion and respect within the Orthodox community and larger Jewish community in Boston. The national organizations of OU, RCA, NCSY and NCYI, have also recognized his leadership with numerous awards.

Rabbi Zev Wiener

A native of Los Angeles, Zev graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a BA in Biological Sciences and English and Comparative Literature.  He is currently pursuing an MD degree at Harvard Medical School while completing rabbinical ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University.  At Yeshiva, Zev served for two years as assistant to Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yonason Sacks, and subsequently translated Rabbi Sacks’ original commentary on the Passover Haggadah, “Chazon LaYomim” (Feldheim, 2009).   At Harvard, Zev co-chaired the Maimonides Society for Jewish student life and served as Talmud lecturer and Rabbinic Intern at the Young Israel of Brookline.   Zev’s wife, Lisa, holds a BA and MPH from Columbia University, and conducts research in epidemiology.
