YIB Yizkor Book 5785

We are proud to announce that we will be publishing the tenth edition of the Young Israel of Brookline Yizkor Book. The Yizkor Book serves as a way to commemorate more visibly the memory of our departed loved ones, Aleihem Hashalom, as well as assisting in fulfilling our obligation of Tzedaka in their memory. Biweekly Halacha Discussion

Biweekly on Tuesdays, 8:30 PM, via Zoom: The “Everyday Halacha For Everyone” biweekly shiur is an opportunity to review, learn, and discuss with Rabbi Hellman a few halachot and how they apply in our lives. We hope most topics will come from questions and suggestions. If you have a suggested topic or a halachik question please forward them to Rabbi Hellman.

The planned topic for each session is sent out via email, usually on the day of the shiur. Recordings of each session are available a few days after it meets. If you would like to view the recordings, they can be found on the YIB learning and video platform, yibrookline.yuja.com.

Studying the Book of Iyov (Job)

This interactive learning group finished studying the Book of Iyov (Job) on July 11, 2024. Iyov contains beautiful poetry, explores the great questions of Divine Providence and reward and punishment, and contains wellsprings of inspiration to meet the most difficult challenges. Monday afternoons: 1:00-2:00 PM, via Zoom: Missing Kiddush? Join old friends and make new ones. Bring your own refreshments! Email with the Zoom information will be sent out prior to each meeting. This virtual get together is on hiatus until further notice.

YIB's Learning and Video Platform

We are very excited to announce our learning and video platform which can be found at yibrookline.yuja.com. You can find divrei Torah and classes from Rabbi Hellman, members of the community, and many visiting teachers. Watch a featured video, browse the organized library of different series of classes, or search the library for a topic or person. We will be continuing to add video and audio recordings, so check it out and send any feedback to Rabbi Hellman.

The development of the new website was supported by a gift from the Zimble family in appreciation for all the wonderful Torah received at YIB over many years and in the hope of continuing connections to the YIB community from afar.
